Parking Lot

The angled striping in the parking lot is a big problem.  One cannot turn right into the lot from the driveway.  No one parks there - can't it just be straight-in parking like other places.  Or, move the drop box to a more convenient location.  Cynthia  11/26

STAFF REPLY

Thanks for raising this question. When you enter the library parking lot, continue down the driveway and follow the arrows to turn right at the second opening. If you take this right turn, you can drop off books from the driver's side of the vehicle and park in any of the angled spaces that are closer to the library. When the library is more busy, customers tend to park on the other side closer to the road.

Solar Power

I don''t know what the power bill is nor what the energy consumption is for the library, but I''m wondering if any thought has been given to putting solar arrays on the roof to help generate electricity to run the place?  Brian Caldwell

STAFF REPLY
We are considering solar panels on the roof, since we have a large flat surface up there - we'll know more later this year about the feasability of the solar idea.

Banners

The banners are the best I've seen - I like the way the whole banner is the art, not just a logo. And how each one is different. Are you going to do more?

Strategic Plan

Did you know that your strategic plan is scans backwards in the pdf? It starts at the end and as you scroll down you get to the beginning.

STAFF REPLY
No we didn't, and thanks for pointing that out - does make for difficult reading.  We will re-do the PDF file and load a new one.

Reading Space

We need a bigger reading area, with beanbags and lovesacks.

STAFF REPLY
If you are a teen, you're in luck - try the Teen Zone at the top of the stairs and you'll find lovesacks waiting for you.  We don't have any plans for more lovesacks in the Children's Area for now - the toddlers tend to get them all sticky.

Outside Book Return

How about a book return on the driver's side?  It's more convenient for single people who don't want to get out onto icy sidewalks.  Tx

STAFF REPLY
Yes, we ended up creating a new problem when trying to solve a different one.  Please hang in there, the parking lot will be repaved and restriped this summer, and the book return issue should be solved.

Most people drive up to the return by going the wrong way, and that isn't causing problems, so try that for now.  We also know that the returns aren't in the best spot - it's hard to get close to them even when you drive on the wrong side.  Until the summer when things get fixed, the best solution is to come into the parking lot from the north end and you don't have to make that sharp turn to line up with the return.

Fundraising Idea

I have a suggestion for a fundraiser.
My boys love books. Sometimes they get so excited they are not as careful as they should be and a book gets damaged. I am at a loss as to how to repair them so they go up on a shelf or are replaced.

I have seen some fantastic repair jobs you have done on your own books. I would be the first one to sign up for a book repair service or class. I would much rather give my money to you than pay to replace them

Just a thought, Heather
